Joint Press Release of the State Secretary for Global Bilateral Relations and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman

Foreign Affairs of Romania, Monica Gheorghita, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, and his accompanying economic delegation, met in Bucharest, on June 13, 2019, to hold a round of bilateral consultations, on the occasion of Secretary General’s Albusaidi visit to Romania during the period of 12-14 June, 2019,  that took place following an invitation from H.E. Viorica Dăncila, Prime Minister of Romania.

Marking 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Sultanate of Oman, the two officials expressed their intent to expand the bilateral relations and to strengthen the partnership and cooperation between the two countries at all levels and fields.

The representatives of the two sides have decided to develop the bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Romania by continuing regular consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs every two years, or when deemed necessary alternately in the two countries. Consultations will be held at the level of high-level Foreign Affairs officials and will address political, economic, commercial, scientific, technical and cultural aspects of bilateral relations.

They also decided to exchange views on bilateral and international issues and corroborate positions on issues of mutual interest within the framework of international law, and to deepen the understanding of their respective foreign policies on a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Both officials have agreed to continue to expand the cooperation between the Embassies of the Sultanate of Oman and Romania in all countries, as well as between the permanent missions of both states to international organizations.

Consultations focused on avenues of cooperation by promoting and supporting the exchange of high-level visits and contacts between the two countries at all Government, economic, cultural, scientific and educational institutions, as well as between the business sector.

Also, the sides decided to further promote trade and investment between the two countries by supporting and enhancing the relationships between the relevant organizations.

Secretary General’s Albusaidi visit to Romania included a meeting with the Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, as well as meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Economy, Minister of Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of National Education, Minister of Health, Minister of Culture and National Identity, and other Romanian officials.
