Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Meleșcanu, welcomed today, on 3 February 2017, the Ambassador of Hungary in Bucharest, Botond Zákonyi, in courtesy visit.
The meeting created the opportunity for the two parties to reiterate their willingness and mutual interest to strengthen bilateral relations, based on the strategic partnership between Romania and Hungary and on the European and Euro-Atlantic values, which they share, as EU and NATO Member States.
In terms of political and diplomatic dialogue, it was mentioned that it will be continued and consolidated through a series of contacts in the future, allowing the transparent approach of all issues of concern, for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
The two speakers pointed out the need to further the development of the economic cooperation, to increase investments in both countries, as well as the sectoral cooperation projects, using as benchmark the achievements in the recent years in areas such as infrastructure, transport or energy interconnection.
It was also agreed to deepen consultations at the level of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs on issues of common interest on the European and international agenda.
